Henry's of Mutterstadt is please to offer a selection of over 440 lots of Collectors rugs and carpets on Saturday 8th June 2019. Featuring a fine collection of Dr. Koos de Jong. Highlights of the sale will include a spectacular selection of Tibetan rugs from the de Jong collection, as well as a diverse array of Persian tribal rugs and fine town rugs in both wool and silk from Persian master workshops. Exemplary early Anatolian rugs, fine Caucasian carpets, a small collection of silk and metal Imperial rugs from China and Turkmen rugs from private collections will also be auctioned. Wannenes is holding there Antique Rugs and Carpets auction on Wednesday 19th June 2019 at their Milan auction house. The sale consists of 89 lots of various Oriental and European rugs and carpets, including a late 19th century Indian Agra wool carpet with classical Shah Abbas design estimated at £13,000-£16,000.

Oriental Rug Auctions News May 2019

The Austria Auction Company's spring sale of Fine Antique Oriental Rugs XV, will be held at the Palais Breuner saleroom in Vienna on Saturday 18th May 2019. The sale comprises of 215 lots of rugs, carpets and textiles from across Eurasia. As is usual with this auction house the sale reiles heavily on small private European collections. On this occasion, the Siawosch Azadi collection in Hamburg has provided a mix of about 75 mainly 19th-century Persian tribal, town and village weaving's, as well as Turkomen and other Central Asian tribal rugs and bags, While a second significant collection consists of almost fifty pieces from an unnamed Italian seller. One of the standout rugs on offer is a mid-19th century silk-wefted herati designed Qashqai kelleh, lot 137 estimated at £10,000-£15,000.

Fine Decorative & Collectible Antique Oriental Rugs

Material Culture of Philadelphia are holding their Fine Decorative & Collectible Antique Oriental Rug sale on Monday 29th April 2019. The sale comprises 163 lots, including a strong selection of decorative antique Persian, Turkish, Indian and Chinese rugs and carpets, as well as a wide selection of collectible kilims, bags and trappings. One of the highlights of the sale is lot 87, a Mohtasham Kashan rug previously featured in Eberhart Herrman's catalogue, Von Lotto Bis Tekke (1978, no44), estimated at £11,000-£19,000.

Vienna Auction of Turkomen Rugs & Carpets

The Vienna action house Dorotheum is holding a sale of almost 140 Turkomen rugs, carpets and knotted works from a single private collection. The sale will take place on April 9th 2019, and will include high quality and rare pieces, an early Tekke Turkomen carpet size 2.26m x 2.00m in exceptional condition is estimated at £13,000-£17,000, also offered is an asmalyk from West Turkestan, a magnificent Yomut tent band estimated at £8,000-£10,000. Oriental Rug & Carpet Auction News

Koller Auctions of Zurich will be holding their Carpet sale on the 28th March 2019. It includes 100 interesting, decorative and antique oriental rugs and carpets. The Auction boasts a number of decorative carpets in very good condition, and some beautiful antique examples with rare designs. One of the auctions stand out pieces is a colossal Persian Kerman Laver carpet measuring 12.70m x 6.00m. The Austria Auction Company will be holding their old and antique oriental rug and carpet sale on the 30th March 2019 at there Palais Breuner saleroom in Vienna. Most of the consignment comes from the Wormser collection in Germany. Here in the UK there is a special exhibition of ancient Andean textiles being held at the Whitworth Museum in Manchester on the 29th March-15 September 2019. European Oriental Rugs & Carpet Auctions

The Palais Dorotheum in Vienna will be holding their oriental rug and carpet auction on the 20th February 2019. One of the highlights is a Central Persian silk carpet from the first half of the 20th century. This large rug of unusual format boasts a vase and central gable motif on a light coloured ground, and is in excellent condition. Another lot is a Savonnerie from the second half of the 18th century, commissioned as a palace carpet. This museum quality carpet is in good condition, with a round filigree medallion enclosed in a lozenge on a rust ground. Another magnificent carpet is a mid 20th century Persian Meshed carpet of the finest quality from northeast Persia. Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers is holding its antique sale from 27 February to 7th March 2019 in Copenhagen.
