Nazmiyal Auctions New York will be holding the second part of the sale of fine oriental rugs and carpets from a prominent New York dealer. The sale will take place on Sunday May 16th 2021, with over 160 antique and vintage rugs and carpets offered at enticingly low estimates. The sale offers a wide range of antique rugs and carpets in a variety of types and sizes from Persia, Turkey, China, Europe, India and the Caucasus. some of the highlights include a charming antique Persian Senneh rug (lot 1000 estimate $3,000-$5,000), and a room size Persian Tabriz carpet (lot 1173 estimate $40,000-$60,000) Other sale highlights include a Persian Afshar carpet (lot 1003 estimate $5,000-$8,000), a Persian Kerman carpet (lot1016) an oversized Persian Sultanabad carpet (lot 1062 estimate $30,000-$40,000), and a classic Persian Heriz carpet (lot1073 estimate $20,000-$30,000). Further highlights are a tribal Yomut main carpet (lot 1006 estimate $5,000-$10,000), a Persian Qashqai horse cover (lot 1118 estimate $4,000-$6,000), and an assortment of saddle bags.

Skinners Fine Oriental Rugs & Carpets

Skinners auction house in Massachusetts are holding their Fine Oriental Rugs & Carpets sale on the 2nd May 2021. The sale includes a number of fine examples of rugs and decorative carpets and textiles. Most of the lots come from major rug collections throughout the US and Canada, and some of the highlights are early Turkmen trappings, and a main carpet, including a rare Salor chuval. Also a group of 17th-18th century Chinese rugs and textiles, and many early Anatolian, Caucasian and northwest Persian pieces most of which are in good condition.

Dorotheum Oriental Rug & Carpet Auction Vienna

Dorotheum auction house in Vienna will be holding their oriental rug and carpet sale on 26th April 2021, at their Palais Dorotheum sale rooms in Vienna. The sale includes some rare antique rugs and carpets of exceptional quality, including a group of fine silk Persian Heriz carpets (lots 53-56). The sale also offers a beautiful Persian Sarouk Feraghan with gold lions (lot 52 estimate €7,500), and a group of Persian Mohtasham Kashan rugs in various sizes (lot 19-21), and two fantastic Persian Serafina Isfahan carpets (lot 173-174), a couple of rare Ningxia rugs (lot 105-106), and several collectable Caucasian rugs, a fine Anatolian Ushak carpet (lot 47), and a superb antique Persian Serapi carpet (lot 93), along with a collection of old vintage Tibetan rugs.

Christie’s London Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds, Including Oriental Rugs and Carpets

Christie's auction house London is holding their Art of the Islamic World Including Oriental Rugs and Carpets sale on 1st April 2021. The sale includes over 60 lots of oriental rugs and carpets spanning nearly four centuries. The highlight of the sale is an important 17th century Polonaise carpet, formally part of the noble collection of the Pio Falco family, its identical pair remains in the Palazzo del Principe museum in Genoa. This carpet is in remarkable condition retaining a large amount of its silk pile and gold and silver thread, it really exemplifies the golden age of Persian Safavid weaving under Shah Abbas the Great. Also included in the sale is a rare Persian Safavid vase carpet fragment, once part of a impressively large Persian Kerman carpet woven during the 17th century. Other fragments of the same carpet are housed in more than 10 of the worlds top museums including the V & A. Other highlights include a rare 16th century Persian Tabriz border fragment, and a beautiful Qajar rug who's designs are closely related to early Persian Safavid Kerman vase carpets, a rare part silk Salor carpet from Turkmenistan, a Pinwheel Caucasian Kazak rug, and a Imperial silk and metal thread Palace rug from northern China.

Sotheby’s London, Arts of the Islamic World

Sotheby's auction house in London will be holding their Arts of the Islamic World & India sale on 31st March 2021. The sale will a number of important pieces including a Safavid niche rug in wool on a silk foundation, inlaid with silver metal thread, from the so-called Salting or Top Kapi group (lot 138). From a private European collection The Athens Niche rug and from a US private collector a early 17th century Marquand Animal rug (lot 162), this is a rare example of Persian Isfahan weaving which depicts wild animals and flowering plants. From the same collector a fine 17th century Persian Isfahan rug (lot 161), and an 18th century northwest Persian rug with figural design (lot 164). Other highlights of the sale are a yellow ground Transylvanian rug with green ground gothic boarders, and a number of early Anatolian and Caucasian rugs, plus a good Bokhara Suzani (lot 183).

Wannenes Auction’s first web-only antique rugs, carpets and textile sale.

The Italian auction house Wannenes will be holding their first web-only antique rug, carpet and textile sale, from 15th-30th March 2021. The sale includes a fine selection of rare oriental rugs and carpets one example is a large Chinese Beijing carpet with an interesting design (lot 82, estimate €7,000-€9,000). The sale also includes a beautiful Caucasian Kazak prayer rug circa 1873 (lot 52 estimate €5,000-€7,000), and a fine Turkish silk Hereke rug dating from 1950.

Oriental Rug & Carpet Auctions March 2021

On the 8th March 2021, In Copenhagen Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers will be holding a sale that includes a limited number of classical old and antique Oriental rugs and carpets. The standout piece is a fine weave Aubusson tapestry attributed to Antoine Grellet. The auction also includes a number of vintage Swedish textiles from the 20th century. Rippon Boswell auctions of Wiesbaden will be holding their general rug sale on the 13th March 2021. The auction includes 218 lots of antique rugs and carpets, among them Chinese rugs, Caucasian rugs, Turkmen rugs, Anatolian rugs, and Persian carpets. Nazmiyal Auctions has announced that it will be holding a Oriental rug and carpet sale on the 21st March 2021. There will be over 180 lots of antique and vintage oriental rugs and carpets, mostly on behalf of a prominent New York rug dealer. Many types of rug and carpet weaving is represented including Persian, Turkish and Caucasian. And finally the Austria Auction Company will be holding their next sale of fine oriental and antique rugs and carpets, on March 27th 2021, at Palais Breuner in Vienna.

Oriental Rug & Carpet Auction Dates

Nazmiyal Auctions will be holding their antique rug and carpet sale on January 21st 2021, at their New York sale rooms. The includes antique oriental rugs and carpets from various estates and the Nazmiyal collection. The auction includes an impressive collection of room size carpets from Persia, Turkey, India, and china, also tribal pieces from Turkmenistan and Persia, beautiful Caucasian rugs and 20th century Swedish kilims and Moroccan rugs round out the sale. One of the stand out pieces in the sale is lot 8170, a large 16th century Cairene carpet from Egypt with an estimate of $30,000-$50,000. The Austria Auction Company are holding their Fine Antique Oriental Rugs & Carpets sale XXIII on the 30th January 2021 at their Vienna sale rooms. The auction includes 189 antique rugs and carpets including a number of large collectable, Caucasian, Anatolian and Turkmen rugs and carpets. Grogan & Company will be hosting their Fine Rugs & Carpets Auction on the 31st January 2021 at their Boston sale rooms. The sale includes 170 lots of oriental rugs and carpets, and among them the collection of the late John Collins, as well as a fine selection of Caucasian and Anatolian pieces.

Bukowskis auction house will be holding their important winter sale on 11th-12th December 2020 at Stockholm Sweden. The sale includes an impressive selection of rugs, carpets and textiles from Sweden, Flanders, Turkey, Persia, Turkmenistan and China.
