The Austria Auction Company Fine Antique Oriental Rug Sale

The Austria Auction Company in Vienna will be holding their twentieth dedicated oriental carpet auction on Saturday 30th May 2020. This sale will be devoted to the dispersal of one large and impressive Austrian collection. There are 112 lots ranging from the 16th century to the 20th and include important rugs and carpets from Turkmenistan and East Turkestan as well a previously unknown west Anatolian small pattern Holbein fragment made in the early days of the Ottoman Empire. Of particular note are the Turkmen main carpets, a large group of 19th century Caucasian rugs and twelve East Turkestan carpets, including a beautiful Khotan carpet (lot 42, estimate £19,000-£28,000) with a rare field design that combines medallions and rosettes.
